Marry someone with a lower credit score than yours, does it effect your score?

IT wont lower your score unless you start letting her pay your bills. If you take over paying her bills with in Six months her score will get alot better.

Best of luck in your new Marriage!

Marry someone with a lower credit score than yours, does it effect your score?

No, unless your partner is refinancing their debt and adding you as a cosigner. If you aren%26#039;t cosigning anything then you%26#039;re not combining credit histories even if you decided to have a joint bank account because its, well, not a type of credit.

Of course once you decided to buy a house and cosign together they will combine for the life of the loan. They%26#039;ll also combine if you open a joint credit card or take out any other kinds of loans.

IT DOES NOT MKE DIFFERENCE.IT DOES NOT MATTER AT ALL.SHE WILL COME UP AFTER TRAINING.

Marry someone with a lower credit score than yours, does it effect your score?

No, it will not. Your credit is your credit, married or not. If you open joint accounts the payment history will be reported on both of your credit profiles as joint, but short of any joint accounts your credit histories will never merge.

No it will not. You will both still have your own credit. I just had to call a financial advisor and the loan officer at my credit union to make sure. I%26#039;m in the same position. My credit is good, but my fiance has some work to do on his. The only time the person with bad debt will effect you is if you have say a joint bank account and they have some past due items. Those companies can take $ out of the joint account, simply because it has his/her name on it. Also.. if you apply for a joint account such as a mortgage, car loan, etc.. then they will look at both credit reports. But overall, just because you marry someone doesn%26#039;t mean your two credit scores join.

No..but if you apply for something jointly (house, car, home equity loan), both spouses score are taken into consideration.

Not directly. My credit sucked because of my ex husband. My new husband has almost perfect credit. So to get mine better, we put everything we possibly could in my name alone. Our house, we had to use just his name, because it gave us a better interest rate on the loan. Over the years, my credit has really come up a lot. Nothing like having a good man by your side ;)

Marrying them no. But do not comingle money in any way. By opening any joint accounts or loans your credit scores will comingle as well. This would help her score but also hurt yours.
